For me, the band Death has quite good and memorable lyrics. Their first albums were about gore and all that stuff, but they later shifted to social and more philosophical/introspective themes, and I can certainly appreciate that.

The lyrics of Symbolic are about innocence and growing up, and as someone who has grown up in the recent years, they really resonate with me.

Stevie Wonder wrote some amazing stuff too, Bowie, Zappa, Lou Reed. Neil Young, Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen. I could list 100s of songs that have unbelievably profound lyrics.

If I had to pick one, it's Heaven knows I'm miserable now. It speaks volumes.
