Hello there. I've been practicing the knot and hanging - so far it hurts the neck really badly and it's not extremely pleasant.

Does anyone know a good alcohol to take in order to keep the pain off or temporarily distract the nervous system?

I'm catching the bus tomorrow.

I'm no expert in alcoholic beverages but my guess is that the best bet is to go for something strong like whiskey, rum, cognac, vodka, etc. If you are not a drinker that is also a positive thing cause you won't have built in alcohol resistance and should get drunk pretty easily. I remember during my teenage years when I would drink with my buddies on some special occasions like 18th birthdays or some holidays, we would consume some cheap vodka and after a liter or so, I would almost always and completely lose my consciousness of my surroundings. I would get home but I wouldn't remember a thing, which route I took, what have I done at the party, what have I talked about during that inebriated state etc... Hope this helps

I'm going to be honest with you I don't think alcohol will do much of anything to soothe the pain, the objective of hanging is to break the neck which snaps the spinal cord (hangman's fracture); if done correctly death is instant but that's rare in hangings. So in a good amount of cases you'll die from strangulation which is excruciatingly painful. You might need opioids in order to soothe the pain. And even then it's going to remove the sensation of asphyxiation.
