I got a couple more of the items that I need, now I'm just waiting for the formic acid to arrive on Friday. Bad news is I was forced to get 65% due to the 95% selling out, but good news being I was able to get 1 gallon of the 65% for $45 vs the 95% being $33 per quart. I also bought some potassium ferricyanide that I'll be using in a separate bucket to produce HCN with some of the sulfuric acid. I have a full gallon of 93% (yes, GALLON. This is some cheap shit) so I'll probably just do 2 quarts with the formic and 2 with the potassium ferricyanide, both with setups leading to the same garbage can. To try to neutralize formic acid vapors, the CO tube will just be stuffed full of cotton soaked in a baking soda solution. I don't know if it's effective, it's just the only idea I have considering I don't have the time to attempt a makeshift gas washer.
DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know that HCN has the potential to be painful to breathe in, but chances are that will only last a few seconds before I'm unconscious. When I have the setup completed I'll explain the solution I have to counter the pain problem.

Having 65% formic acid, there is at least some little chance you won't change your mind about using it right after opening the bottle :))
but good news being I was able to get 1 gallon of the 65%
How much is that in liters? (I'm not good at understanding those American/British units that seem to differ depending on the location)

HCOOH has a WAY greater potential to be painful to breathe in.

1 gallon is ~3.785 liters I think.
As for the formic acid part, I'm just hoping the cotton stuffing will be enough to keep the HCOOH from reaching the exit bin. With my current materials, a gas washer is completely out of reach.

If I were to go with CO, i would go for a gas washer. Even if it is just a hose stuck in a bucket of water. HCOOH is strongly irritating.
The reaction itself generates a lot of heat, potentially leading of partial boiling of the acid depending on the setup.

Your first encounter with HCOOH fumes will happen when you open the bottle with that acid and pour it into other vessel. If you do this without a protective equipment, you figure out how badly irritating it its.

Do not mix large amounts of acids within a short time, unless you want to make a big geyser out of boiling acids (3.8 liters is an insanely big amount).

As for the cotton filter, it should be made of lots of layers (probably 20 cm in total at least) to be able to absorb formic acid for a sufficiently long time decently. Besides, it would be better to use a stronger alkali like Na2CO3 instead of NaHCO3.

Wouldn't it be better to put the formic acid in the bucket before the sulfuric since I'm using 65% (which has a lot of water)?

The tubes together will be about 4-6 feet in length so I'll have plenty of room for that

Well if all I need is just a hose in water then that seems simple enough. It's a lot of work just to die but as long as it's peaceful then I don't mind😂

Perhaps so, but sulfuric acid should be added gradually then. Mixing water with sulfuric acid produces heat that needs some time to dissipate.
