I like the answer the psychologist describes. There is one thing I don't agree with is that the therapist still wishes to fix long-term suicidal people and saying that sympathizing with the suicidal isn't a good idea. I don't see why he can't flat out just accept that long-term suicidal people are just tired of life, they know that they want out, they are (usually) rational and are not being pressured to make a permanent decision.
