I'm just curious, why do so many people post saying they're nervous about SN being seized by UK customs?

It'll trigger a welfare check, I get that, but a welfare check is nothing to be worried about in the UK knowing that mental health services are more than happy to watch people CTB.

I even told them my plans and their response was "You clearly have capacity and if that's what you intend to do we cannot stop you"

A welfare check isn't anything to worry about, is there another reason people get scared?

Most people have never had contact with the police or mental health services so it seems quite scary. They don't know what's likely to happen or what to do in those situations to protect themselves. Me personally I've been to prison and sectioned and am currently serving a suspended sentence so there's an increased risk for me of them activating my sentence, extending my suspended sentence, or putting me back in hospital. Also if someone came to their home to do a welfare check there is a possibility that anyone they are living with could see and it could raise uncomfortable questions, especially if they are living with family members. In my experience I have also been told it's okay to CTB but it depends on the context. Most people in this day and age care more about protecting themselves so if they are someone who is responsible for your welfare and you CTB it reflects badly on them. In prison I was very open about wanting to CTB and was repeatedly told to wait until I was released.

For me personally, I don't want a welfare check to in some way end up in my family finding out and being saved in some way. I'm not worried about the welfare check per se, but the butterfly effect it can end up having

I also have a history of mental health, particularly around suicidality, which is very much known to the NHS and to the police. That might make them treat this more seriously than a simple welfare check

If it makes you feel any better I just received my SN and so far there doesn't seem to be any issue. Also police can't access your medical history for a welfare check. The NHS is big on privacy especially where mental health is concerned. They would have to apply to the courts for access and the court would only allow that if they felt it was necessary to investigate a crime so there's a 0% chance of them doing it for a welfare check.

It isn't known only to the NHS; the police directly got involved with an attempted suicide of mine.

Thank you for letting me know about your experience; whilst I'm fairly confident that if I ordered the SN now it would be delivered without issue, I can't say that for certain in the long-term. Apparently when Kenneth Law got busted all his customers received welfare checks, so I still need to be able to prevent any trace back to me/identifiable to me when I order it

Yes but unless you were arrested that wouldn't come up. The police are really bad at communicating unless it's about something really serious. If you were arrested it would flag up immediately. Anything else they wouldn't bother to even check tbh.

I was arrested, and there was an entire investigation with myself as the suspect related to that attempt. Case was dropped after a few months though.

Well that is likely to show up. The fact they dropped the case means they might not know but I would err on the side of caution. I am actually serving a suspended sentence and have an actual criminal record with time in prison so I was extra nervous. I don't plan to CTB for a few days at least as I want to make sure I'm not leaving any loose ends so if something happens in the meantime I will make a post about it.
