Personally, it seems like slitting ones throat would be very hard to do. The agony would be indescribable. Just use the rope.

Yeah. Hanging is tricky though.

Absolutely. I myself failed at partial hanging. But cutting your throat would probably send your body into shock. The indescribable pain would probably make it impossible to cut any deeper. One of the hardest ways to go.

I'd choose full suspension alone over that.

I think there's a Hollywood theatrical component to it. Just a guess.
