Im not a very angry person Im kinda the opposite but recently in my history class I missed a day due to health so I hade to take a make up exam, 3 page essay, so I did.

Spent probably 2 days staying up late making sure all 3 pages supported the thesis I was given to work with, turned it in, I got a zero??

Another guy in my class also missed the exam, did the essay, copied directly from chat gpt, and the professor gave him a mid 90s grade.

My feedback stated that since I didnt use 3 sources from the universities textbook that it was "unacceptable work", but mr.gpt passed from a single prompt…

The top 10 students of my class are known cheaters and use ai, only maybe 4 actually care for academic integrity.

Just to protect myself im not dumb in any sense loll 4.1 gpa , former AP student, if not ap or dual its always honors, but my only downside is ive refused to cheat or use ai for my own gain.

As I am currently a student I think It might mean more or less but Ive heard people claim how grades slowly mean less and less as year go own, be it because of how students dont care, or the teachers dont actually reach them, or about every student now depends on ai to get work done, it isnt just oldheads spewing whatever its ACTUALLY happening.

And I get it if you may not care as its likely you may not be in school, but alot of people I watch cheating constantly and using gpt are medical students, going into law, or becoming future educators.

half the people in my yr who got into high profile unis proudly lol'd about faking their exam scores

then, everyone was constantly talking about how to bypass the ai checkers for their history/lit papers.

probably the most depressing time as a senior and knowing exactly how college would be at this rate

and they get so defensive about it. "well its just notes!!" yeah and i wonder what you use for the foundation of your essay.. couldnt be your notes!! that you couldn't even use your basic reading comprehension skills for!

All you had to do was bullshit and put down one of the sources from the textbook onto your sources page or whatever. Did that shit all the time in ap sem and other classes back in highschool.

My prof a sweat and actually checks everything 🫩🫩I did that through english and comp but I had 2 just not textbook cuz the instructions just said minimum 2 sources not specified

LLM's are making my (future) English degree lose value by the day lol. Reminds me of my econ final where this one person who was the known class clown, cheater, etc. passed with a 90 while I sat there with a 58 --granted, I did not study as I should but I was basically the only that stuck to a "no-AI" policy.

Starting to think I should give it a try...

Very commendable effort though, if you can stick to it. There's a growing shortage of people willing to think through problems purely with their own brainpower.
