At this point Im just going to therapy for something to do. Its just making me realize even more how stupid this world is and how selfish people are and just brings up even more pain of the past. I feel like we are in a simulation and nothing is real and I have no interest in the material world what so ever. We are trapped here in a prison planet all cause our parents were horny

BTDT, bought the t-shirt. I am DONE paying people to say "And how does that make you feel?" 🤬🤬 How do you THINK that makes me feel BITCH, if I am talking about it with you?? I'm not here because we are drinking buddies. 😡😡😡

Yeah, it kinda pisses me off a little bit. 🤨🤨 They can stiff somebody else outta the $50 co-pay. $50 buys a decent bottle of scotch and I don't have to do any "homework".

Yeah I hate when people tout therapy/meds as some magic solution, they're really not in a lot of cases.

Yeah and it can be nice having someone to talk to. To be fair my relationship with my last therapist (lasted 2 years) did increase my confidence a bit and helped me think clearer but it did nothing for my existential despair cuz well, reality sucks and there's nothing that can really change that

You are right. No amount of therapy can change reality

They think their approach is so profound too. It just completely amazes me how useless their advice can be. If only they would be more empathetic and less systematic maybe they would have luck getting through to us.

Emotional prostitution after all.

Do you think the less therapy you have the more you'll want to live?

I recently took a counselling class, and we learned about something called 'probing' - basically trying to gather someone's story. I remember the lecturer mentioning that it's important to vary your responses, but a lot of professionals don't seem to do this, which can make them sound robotic. It feels like many refuse to go off script and would rather stick to what they were taught in school. Imo, only those with personal experience should enter the field.

Therapists can't change reality or hypnotize you. I feel like a lot of us are operating on a higher level of consciousness and are too aware of the reality of how insane this existence is. Depression, confusion, discontent, loneliness are sure to follow. I too was happier as a naive child.

BTW, i think it can be beneficial to let things off your chest and think through things with someone. If you can find a good person/therapist to confide in, it's not the worst idea in the world.

I tend to wonder whether it's more just a disinterest in engaging with life. Or rather- the typical things and worries the 'normies' engage in.

So- I'm not sure that rejecting certain things represents a higher awareness although- maybe it does. As in- why should I play by these capitalist rules? Why should I believe there is a meaning to life or that I need to find purpose?

I wonder if the 'normies' truly don't ask themselves these questions. Maybe it's more that they know they're stuck in a capitalist system but, they don't want to go destitute so- they play along and, sometimes need help to do that. But surely- that's what therapists will believe we are there for- to better cope with and function in this world- to 'recover' I suppose.

I suppose a lot of worries stem from trying to live and live our best life. I've wondered myself how useful therapy could even be when I've got my full gaze fixed on the grave! What can these people do for us?

I've wondered if that would be a better way of 'using' them- as in- trying to guide the session yourself: I need your help/ advise with this particular issue. I suppose I am curious why (very) suicidal people see therapists. What are they hoping to get out of it? What would you like them to say OP? What do you want them to focus on? Do you hope for them to say something that will make you feel better? Do you just want to be able to vent to them? Would you rather they didn't analyse your past? I wonder how open they would be to hearing what you need from them and, adjusting their approach accordingly.

Therapy can only help people who can be helped.

I think there's a zone between "normal" and "far gone", only people in that zone can be saved.

Someone people crossed the line to "far gone", and some people were born inside "far gone".

There's no turning back for us because that's not our world.

There's no salvation for the outsiders, all we can do is keeping walking into the fog until we disappear, and that's our end.

I haven't had EMDR. Mine was more psychodynamic based, I found the whole process just broke me. I had therapy before as well and it made me worse. I think I've realised I'm just not cut out for it. Other people have obviously found it helpful. Therapist always tell me 'it's gets worse before it gets better'....but I always just got worse and the 'better' bit never happened. Sorry EMDR is causing you distress and making things worse.
