I've been on a bender where I've drank roughly a fifth of whiskey a day for the last two weeks. Over the next four days I'm gonna try to reduce my consumption to zero, using measuring cups that I own to track it precisely. Today I'm gonna drink 400ml, tomorrow 200ml, Thursday 100ml, and Friday 50ml. I'm posting this here so I can hold myself accountable. Wish me luck, hopefully I'm tapering gradually enough that I don't get really bad withdrawal symptoms.

There are some people that can taper off on their own. For some others they find that they cannot do it alone. AA is always there if it turns out you need help. Depending on how long you have been drinking, you may also face some physiological challenges. The body can adapt to taking calories from alcohol and need help in a transition. You face a difficult path, I wish you well in your attempt and encourage you to see it through.

So far my taper attempt is going well and I'm not having any withdrawal symptoms besides some very mild hand shaking and difficulty getting to sleep. I'm gonna try AA once I'm fully tapered off - I've never tried it before so I suppose it's worth a shot.
