I know this thread is only meant for some people and not others: Not everybody here is spiritual... as absurd as this may seen to me today, many still believe there's no life after death but rather some eternal void. I listen to Near Death Experience videos periodically on Youtube, using them to piece together what to expect once I finally shut down this body that's caused me so much grief: We all deal with the veil of amnesia and at best manage to pierce it to a very limited extent. I have a rough idea of what to expect which is why I'm not too worried... if anything my concern is disappointing myself or other beings, based on the purpose I may have come here for and not be able to complete to the extent expected.

I felt it would be nice to have a thread for sharing NDE's from people who attempted to end their lives and failed, so others in their situations can know what they saw. I've watched several but would like to see what others found as well, maybe even experienced themselves if anyone who had an NDE is on this forum. Personally I'm less interested in those describing negative experiences such as visions of hell, since I at least don't believe in such a place and consider that a temporary state learned from control motivated beliefs during this life.

I'll link those I could pull from my browsing history. Some I watched a while ago others are more recent. I hope they help others as they've helped me.

Am curious about your view on this; feel free to elaborate.

Feel free to also mention what your personal conception of the afterlife is.
We all deal with the veil of amnesia and at best manage to pierce it to a very limited extent.
What is meant by this? (I mean this genuinely; and am interested to see (with better understanding on my own part) the idea you had in mind behind this.)

[To change the subject, and clarify the following statement.] I can understand if you prefer not to debate this subject at all, though, and merely wish to express your own emotions & views on it. (I also respect that as well; it's fair if you just wanted to confer with others of similar perspective rather than debate.)

[A point of debate if you wish to engage.] But isn't any positive feeling experienced from an NDE, merely a recollection of positive emotion experienced in life? In essence what I mean is this; all "good" felt in NDE's (or pictured, witnessed, etc) is all based off of (constructed, originated, inspired by) goodness felt in usual consciousness, eunoia.

I don't think I've seen any of those so I will check them out.

Based on my research, I feel that there's a pretty clear consensus. With exceptions, such as some cases covered by Kevin Williams, it seems that bad afterlife scenarios are a low concern for most people. However, what is less clear is what happens after that. I don't feel that any of the existing research addresses this question with adequate nuance.

The main possibilities are:
1) Eventually being reborn, back in time, at the beginning of the same lifetime, to try again.
2) Returning to the body, but only from the point of suicide; that is a 'failed/aborted suicide attempt' (which maybe didn't actually fail).
3) Moving on, but still having to deal with certain unresolved karmic issues next time.
4) No special consequences for future lifetimes, thus no disincentive for suicide at all.

A notable example cited by Kevin Williams, named Sandra Rogers, was actually given a choice of returning to complete her 'mission', or going home on condition of having to repeat the same lifetime from birth at a later stage. Obviously she chose the former and thus was able to share her experience.

Some commentary on the aforementioned possibilities:
1) Being reborn from birth risks a hellacious Groundhog Day scenario of going through childhood abuse/trauma, followed by suicide, over and over. I have not heard of any mechanism preventing this.
2) The 'failed/aborted suicide' possibility would render suicide a harmless holiday to the afterlife, but also a complete waste of everyone's time since it achieves nothing.
3) This would dissuade leaving nonchalantly without having made an effort to address unresolved issues, but also shows some compassion for the suffering individual.
4) Everyone would like this, but I've seen little or no claims of this nature.

There does seem to be a lot of grey areas rather than any across-the-board rules of thumb. The near-universal claim that we choose our lifetime willingly adds to the confusion (from a human perspective) since nothing is even being forced upon us. And yet, the situation itself can be full of grey areas; being middle-aged, a long history of (unsuccessful) attempted recovery, debilitating health issues, yet a strong interest in these issues and a vague hope of some miracle, as has happened to some others.

As to the original question, Kelly Sammy is a notable one who I followed for some years. She returned from her NDE with newfound insights and intuitive abilities which are reasonably common after NDEs, though this doesn't address the question of what the rest of us are supposed to do.

I have seen a couple of proper NDEs shared by users on this site, though good luck finding them.

I am spiritual too. I believe in astrology and new age thinking. I also believe in God whatever that is.

I find it interesting. As a disciple of Carl Sagan, I'd rapidly say that there's a natural explanation in all NDEs. Still, as entirely subjective experiences, they're fascinating. It's amazing what the mind can produce.
