For some reason, benzo are such a taboo topic for the doctors here in Sweden. I suppose due to the potential of it being addictive. They have never suggested it to me when it comes to panic attacks, insomnia, depression etc.

Is there anything that can substitute benzos in SN protocol? Or is it a must?

I have access to Quetiapine (Seroquel), Mirtazapin, Alimemazine (Theralen), Promethazine (Lergigan), Propiomazine (Propavan), and can potentially get my hands on Zopiclone (Imovan) soon. So yeah, mostly antihistamines, some sedative antidepressants and soon a Z-drug. 😔

Will any of these work? Will they be as strong as benzos? I know Z-drug works similar to benzos. 🤔

Thanks in advance for any tips and advice! 😊

It's sad that benzos are so hard to get! I was also hoping to get them from a doctor after reading the SN guide, but sounds like it's impossible in Europe. I guess the only way is buying them Off the Black market. What's Z-drug, by the way?

In my case I have benzos.
If I hadn't I would replace them with muscle relaxers like Tizanidine or any other OTC muscle relaxer that won't cause vomiting.
I think they combined with any sedative or sleeping pills would work well.

Thank you! I'll look into it. I've seen your protocols and I'm jealous the things you need can be obtained OTC 🤭

I just tried again with my doctor today and he wouldn't prescribe it since I'm going on a trip soon. He said Benzos need to be "monitored" and he can't do that if I'm travelling. Sigh, such a hard task. 😔

Z-drug has similar mechanism to Benzos and acts as a sedative. But I'm not sure how strong it is compared to Benzos.

I think it's important to remember that SN, AE, and fasting are sufficient. The rest is helpful but not necessary (it depends on the individual). Among the medications you listed, in my opinion, Promethazine and Propiomazine could work. As an alternative, TRAZODONE (triazolopyridine antidepressant) could do the trick. It's usually prescribed for insomnia in the elderly. Personally, I'm knocked out in 20 minutes, even on just a few mg, despite having a long history of recreational use of various BZDs and being very resistant to high doses

Thank you!

I managed to secure 20 tablets of 7.5mg Zopiclone (Z-drug) and will test it out to see how strong it knocks me off.

Promethazine is a bit too weak for me and Propiomazine is a hit or miss depending on nights.

I'll look into Trazodone. What did you tell the doctor in order to get this prescribed? It's an SARI class med, and I've never had that prescribed before. Only SNRIs, SSRIs, antipsychotics.

Is Lunesta strong? Do you feel drowsy, sleepy and tired from it? I read that it's a fast acting Z-drug.

I haven't taken it in a long time but it would make me drowsy after like a half hour. I still would wake up at least one during the night so I don't know if it will keep me asleep especislly if I'm suffering from effects of sn. Also I hear if you stay awake after you take it it can cause hallucinations 😩😩😩I'm not sure how much I shoukd take either…
