I've started cutting on my thighs rather than my wrists, and it's much easier to hit styro. Thing is, the scars don't close within minutes like they do on my wrists. Rather, they 3-6 days to close/heal.

During that time, I want to make sure my scars heal properly. But I dont know how to take care of it. Recently I've just been applying Vaseline and bandaids, but I don't know if that's good enough.

Anyone have any tips? Or is how I'm doing it just fine?

I used to dab dermal cuts with alcohol before wrapping bandages around. I'd do it every 2-3 days during the healing process. Not sure if that's the right way to care for lacerations but it worked for me, so I suppose it may work for you too. Take care of yourself.

Steri-strips and bandages , if they don't stop bleeding and it doesn't close like it should you should go to the hospital to get stitched.

Personally, I spray isopropyl alcohol on my cuts, clean them up, apply neosporin, and then bandage. I've heard that the isopropyl can lead to more scarring, so if thats a concern just use soap and water. Though when im more unstable and don't follow my normal cleaning routine everything has been fine so far, but probably better to be safe.

that's pretty normal for styro cuts.
Recently I've just been applying Vaseline and bandaids, but I don't know if that's good enough.
vaseline is good for minor cuts as it helps maintain moisture, creates a barrier to prevent infection and reduces scarring but it's not recommended for deeper wounds as it can trap bacteria and dirt deep inside the wound bed. you could try using antibacterial/antiseptic cream/ointment. remember to change your bandaids every 24-48 hours and wash your wounds with saline solution or with mild soap and water
