Stan Lee died. and I don't care?

When I heard the news, I kinda just sat there at my desk for a moment, I thought "huh?... well it was only a matter of time I suppose" and turned back to my PC doin what ever it was I was doing at that time.
I did not really feel much which I figured is strange seeing as I have pretty much grown up surrounded by Mavel fandom and nostalgia for the comics from when I was I a kid but all I could think was that at least he has peace now.....should've been me.

He was 95 and unless he died in hideous circumstances there's not really any reason to feel bad for him. He had a good life. I still have his autograph from 1999

I don't want fame, fortune, I want to die, and although I can admit he went in the most peaceful way I still would have rather been the one to die, but alone and forgotten, I don't care for leaving a mark on an otherwise already shit stained,marked up to hell turd we call existence as there is no point. No I get that, that's why we're on this forum. But if you were Stan Lee you wouldn't have those thoughts, you'd be a completely different person with a different brain. I guess my initial comment came off as kind of superficial. Yes of course money and fame don't solve everything, hence why so many celebrities catch the bus, especially those with history of mental illness.

Yep, that's how I feel. A few years ago I would have definitely been sorry for him, now I barely care.

I cant say I'd want others to die as I have no hate for anyone or anything. "We are all just surviving after all" it's funny though, Stan Lee was an icon to me when I was younger but now I guess with what happend to my child hero Robbin William's I've just kinda been sitting here doin nothing, waiting for nothing, and nothing ever does happen and yet everything is so tiring

Yeah if I was Stan I probs would have the philosophy I have now but...with who I am I can at least say with out a doubt he has peace now, and I'm happy for him for that reason and hope he was at least happy.
And I'm sure others would easily dismember me outside of this forum, ty

Yes I also kind of thought that well, he's fairly old and had a good life it seems, though I wasn't in his head <3 I actually thought he had died the other year, when he died I was like, "Aw man, well that's sort of not a surprise." Though it was strange about the kid running around with a spiderman mask on at the laundromat the night before he died and the boy was very kind to me as he could tell I was feeling a bit down and lonely. But it could have just been coincidence awuhrr <3

He was really old and lived an excellent death doing what he loved... I can understand fans celebrating his life, but the mass funeral, largely conducted in news articles and social media pieces, is a bit overwrought. Don't feel like you're weird for not engaging with it.

The real sign of apathy is not caring if people who are real to you personally die, and I think a lot of suicidally depressed people do detach from life a bit as they question its value and wish to renounce their own, at least for a while.

To be honest I didn't even know who Stan Lee was, I just went about my day. I didn't want to upset anyone who loved his works, but I wasn't going to throw myself on a pyre over a stranger either.

The only celebrity death I've been affected deeply by in recent memory was Prince's, due to the circumstances and the inspiration his music gave me. This might sound cold, but I find the hysterical media-driven mourning for every single famous person that dies, including ones who have lived to ripe old ages in fine health, a bit detached from reality. I think it's within a normative range to feel saddened at those who want to live losing their life or mourn and commemorate people you admire, but the celebrity death craze has become a real marketing event (remember that one year?) and is part of a culture where we fetishise avatars of the ruling class.

I have mourned other strangers who impacted my life or who did a lot for the people. And I understand the average fan feeling some loss. But a lot of the craze you see isn't that, it's branding by the same parties who help sell an inner world built around media consumption. It's safe and fluffy tragedy porn that redirects and warps your emotions and has become more sensationalised over time. Don't let it shift the window on what's sane to you just because you once would have wholeheartedly indulged. It's sad when the happily living pass, but we don't die without our cultural heroes.

I don't feel anything towards him. Well, obviously someone has died and it's sad etc etc but I can't help but feel resentful that when I die the fuss will be over pretty quickly. I'm not saying I want fan art or videos or anything stupid like that, but y'know. Most people are just making a song and dance out of it for Internet points.

I liked his Stan Lee's works very much. But he lived a full life, died at 95. He seemed to enjoy it all. I just noted his passing, but his death doesn't strike me as tragic.

On average around 250,000 people die every single day world wide. Stan lee was just one drop in the bucket that day.

I don't care either. Not because everyone doesn't deserve some mourning, or because he wasn't a good man, but he had the best kind of life a person could hope for. I am far more sympathetic to the plight of my many friends on this board, even if I haven't personally talked to them yet. To me, a rough life is tragic, and death is the release from that tragedy. This is coming out a bit cliche, but it's how I genuinely feel.

I do feel some sadness due to his passing, but personally, I don't have any strong emotional feelings. As for living a long life, having fame and money, well that would solve a lot of my problems, but it will never solve the problem of the right and choice to die. If I always had the right and choice to die (without being locked up against my will, shunned by society as it currently is, and without negative consequences both socially and legally), then that would go a long, long way for me. In other words, I'd like the comfort of being able to check out at any given time without consequence, but in today's world, that is all but a pipe dream.
