This very brief case report summary refers to a SN fatality where the means of delivery into the blood stream was via the skin. A boy was treated to whole body coverage with a liniment which contained SN.

No bad taste, no vomiting, no fiddling with capsules, no tubes up the arse . . . . .well, what do you think ?

Are you thinking of having a bath in it similar to Epsom salts?

There are a few threads about mixing DMSO (lotion easily absorbed into the skin) and SN. In principle that looks great.

Looks like I've posted something similar elsewhere, in the mistaken understanding that this OP was lost in s broadband sswitch-off.
Sorry for duplication.

Stan is right, DMSO as a powerful solvent for almost everything - including sodium nitrite. DMSO is known to increase absorption through the skin. However, it should be noted that there isn't even evidence to support a reliable death using a DMSO and Sodium Nitrite solution application on the skin.

Here's the thread: DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide)
The author Xerxes really goes in depth about the method, so if you are interested I would give that a read. He even experimented with the method himself.

As part of reading your posted article, I found this article: Experimental studies of methemoglobinemia due to percutaneous absorption of sodium nitrite.
They tested a topical solution of sodium nitrite (not said if DMSO was a solvent) on rats using both untouched skin and abraded skin (meaning scraped, or damaged). It was found that the rats applied with the topical with untouched skin, did not see a significant change of Methemoglobin concentration (converted Hemoglobin which cannot bind to oxygen, aka you want your concentration to be high in order to be lethal). Where as, the rats with abraded skin saw a increase Methemoglobin concentration and a decrease of both blood pressure and flow. To conclude this study, if you're interested in a method involving a topical solution of DMSO, it may be a good idea to abrade your skin to increase the likelihood of effectiveness.
It is important to note that I'm not condoning this method, I still believe traditional SN methods are most reliable.
