• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

What the title says. I can't access my current therapist because they're busy, so I'm working through a referral for a mental healthcare conglomerate / large country-wide company. In the intake questionnaire is the usual "are you suicidal" question and my honest answer would be yes, but if I say yes then they start asking a lot of weird follow-up questions about it. Now I'm worried that answering honestly will get me involuntarily committed or treated poorly before I can even talk to someone. For face-to-face interviews, I've always denied being suicidal for obvious reasons but for some reason I'm stumped now that the same question is being asked in a questionnaire format.

I am currently very suicidal and struggling, I have my method planned and ready. I've recently been considering moving my original March date to sooner, although I've decided that I really want to at least attempt to talk to someone before doing anything. Getting support right now has been difficult.

It will always depend on the country. But my expense in uk, is no one gonna commit you for being suicidal alone. They only gonna do it if like your gonna off yourself there and then, with a plan and stuff.

Just saying your suicidal is unlikely to set alarm bells ringing. They will get loads of ppl each day saying that unfortunately.

Honesty is really the best policy (99percent of the time).

Just read the last paragraph, Yh maybe not mention the method part, just saying you struggle deeply with suicidal ideation. I think your be ok still even if you said it tho, cos your actively seeking help, and saying it would emphasise the point that you need help so swings and roundabouts.

In my experience you can usually get away with saying that you're having suicidal ideation, but have no plan nor intent to follow through (even though you do). And as someone already mentioned, do not tell them it is at the level it is right now.

Like others have said, just having suicidal ideation isn't enough to get involuntary committed. To be on the safe side tell them that you have no intent to act (proving that you are not an active risk). I also wouldn't mention having a method in the first few sessions.
Sometimes the intake process in mental health services are used to gauge how urgently a person needs the service, so people with more severe problems get seen quicker. Mentioning that you are suicidal may get you the help you need faster, as well as being able to help you better. (this is in my experience, it may be different for you)

I hope it all goes well for you <3
