My new plan is to shoot through my ears by tilting my head sideways over a 10 gauge with a slug. This should obliterate my mid brain correct?
That's how people survive shotgun blasts. Terrible ideaDepends how you aim the gun but why not just aim in the mouth? Would be much easier I think
No that's not 'it' Look up a diagram of the inside of a head. Through the ears goes right through the mid brain perfectlyStrange, either above the ear or through roof of mouth, that's it.
Depends. If it's aimed at the very front of the hard palate maybe. Aimed at an angle towards the soft palate then you die. That's how people survive shotgun blasts. Terrible idea

Sorry going through bipolar mood swings. Thanks for the advice guys
I have seen a video of someone aiming slightly higher with a shotgun and still blowing most of their head into smithereens, and I presume it was a 12 gauge. I have also seen pictures of that area of the temporal bone being penetrated by 9mm guns, so I don't see how an extremely powerful shotgun such as a 10 gauge would fail in this situation, but it has to be comfortable to hold firmly at that point. My new plan is to shoot through my ears by tilting my head sideways over a 10 gauge with a slug. Ronnie McNutt used a single shot rifle. Just wanted to clarify. Also impulsive suicides tend to be more successful because there isn't really any anxiety or si in the moment. Before using a firearm to CTB, I believe it is important for people to actually see the after effects of a shotgun to the head. I know there are people who survived with horrible facial injuries, but after watching videos such as the Ronnie McNutt suicide and others, I'm not sure much precision is needed (2021 studies show that 90% of suicide attempts using a gun were successful - I haven't studied the findings that closely but the vast majority of survivals were non-head shots). However, for complete transparency, I have firearms but will not use them to CTB because I gave my word I would not. For me, it's probably the various pain killers I managed to hoard from various surgeries, mixed with alcohol. Also, I find guns to be some what "impulsive" and CTBing is something that should be a very deliberative decision.
Yup it's not possible to survive the shot if it's a shotgun or high powered rifle to the side of the head. There's no documented case of anyone surviving a shot like that. Gleb Korablev committed suicide by aiming a semi automatic shotgun at the side of the head. That method is a 100% guaranteed death. Here's a image from the 1444 video. With that 10-gauge cannon, extraordinary conditions must exist to survive. The temporal bone and the great vessels explode. I frankly don't know how anyone can even talk about survival.
Oops…. You're right. The weapon was reported as a single shot rifle. I've never been able to find the exact calibre so, based on the level of skull damage and wall splatter, I made the assumption of shotgun. Whichever calibre he did use, it definitely made a statement.Ronnie McNutt used a single shot rifle. Just wanted to clarify.

That's my thought process as well. As long as you aim in the middle of your skull I don't see a way of surviving. Close to 3000 foot pounds of muzzle energy. Flesh and bone may as well be tissue paper with that level of forceWith that 10-gauge cannon, extraordinary conditions must exist to survive. The temporal bone and the great vessels explode. If you've wanted to commit suicide your entire life I don't think a gun is impulsive. I think you're right that the majority of gun suicides are probably impulsive but in my case I'm choosing it because it is instantaneous with no chance of survival. I cant see a way in any scenario that a 10 gauge to the dome is survivable. My entire head will be blown off my family will have to identify me by my tattoosBefore using a firearm to CTB, I believe it is important for people to actually see the after effects of a shotgun to the head. not to mention if you do survive it through the mouth youll look like a ghoulThat's how people survive shotgun blasts. Terrible idea

Just watched the video. Quite gruesome but that's par for the course I guess. It just cemented my choice thoughRonnie McNutt used a single shot rifle. Just wanted to clarify. Also impulsive suicides tend to be more successful because there isn't really any anxiety or si in the moment.

Is there a guide to show how to properly hold a shotgun and still have proper placement and reach the trigger without shortening the barrel ?
