If you've ten minutes to spare it's worth reading this it's a snippet from a book of the moments in Robin Williams life leading upto his death , it's quite sad reading

Damn this paragraph is so relatable, it's frightening.

"Robin was losing his mind and he was aware of it," she said. Susan said that Robin told her he wanted a "reboot for his brain," but he was stuck in a looping paranoia that would spin around and around in his mind. Every time it seemed as if he had been talked down from the latest obsession, he returned to it all over again, fresh in his mind, as if he were encountering it for the first time.

I know he gets touted a lot as a partial hanging success, but I think the circumstances speak more to his will to die than anything else.

He was also found with tons of cuts across his wrists made with a pocketknife before he tried the hanging.

That is gruesome, and shows true commitment. It is no wonder he succeeded at a partial.

Society is so cruel. He should have been allowed a dignified exit!

I watched his documentary and I honestly recommend everyone to watch it. You really get a glimpse of his life, let alone Robin himself. His struggles with mental health, addiction, and later on dealing with Parkinson's disease. There is nobody like him and he is irreplaceable.

I've owned this movie since the day it came out. Somber, yet sobering at the same time. Have seen it a dozen or more times. Depressing, but a ray of hope.

I didn't see "tons" I saw a "superficial cut" to the wrist.

Watching this again. The man says you become unconscious between 5 to 15 seconds of pressure on neck. Death between 5 and 15 minutes.

I'm sure the psychiatric drugs he was on drove him to suicide.

It just shows that regardless of money and popularity not everyone can be saved from depression.

It wasn't just depression... he had Lewy Body Dementia. This causes psychosis and mood disturbance, in addition to cognitive problems and motor decline. He was misdiagnosed with Parkinson's during life, but the real diagnosis was established after he died (autopsy was performed and the brain was examined).

That's really sad. His work will very much be missed.

We don't know what kind of circumstances he was going through. Everyone always implies suicide is irrational - that one must be affected by a mental disorder or drugs or whatever. Sometimes it's a rational, cogent, choice due to circumstances in life.

He was diagnosed with a degenerative disease similar but worse than Parkinson's right before he died.
