Yeah, I know what you mean, but...
(This is just a thought from a mentally ill individual)...
I think the reason your friends don't check up on you and your family is annoyed is that most people (at least here in the usa) really believe in the hospitals, in the therapists, in the system. So when the system isn't helping someone, they assume it's because the suffering aren't trying.
It's very individualistic, here. No one can actually help you, except for you. When you're incapable of helping yourself, the belief that medications and therapies will is very, very strong.
Therapy did help me, for awhile. When I would tell people it was helping, they had encouraging things to say. When it quit helping, the burden was always on me to find a better therapist, though I think I've reached the end of talk therapy. I'm totally going to try cognitive behavioral therapy, but you really have to navigate the system with no guide or rule book.
Most movies and TV shows here are about individuals overcoming their issues on their own, or people being unaffected by things that affect any normal person.
It took me some time to realize that no one can actually understand me. I've spent a lot of time trying to understand other people. At the end of the day, everyone is selfish. They don't want to think of themselves that way, but we all are. Those same people that are unsupportive might just not have any solutions, and they know it, and they may just believe that professionals will have those solutions.
Also, they are all going through their own personal issues, things they may feel uncomfortable sharing because it might be obvious you have enough to deal with.
It's tricky. It's rough. People in your life probably do care... Just not in a way that is helpful.
If I could, I would just get a cat or a dog. There's an unconditional love there, and sometimes that's really all you need... Someone who loves you with no expectations, no list of preconceived beliefs, no agenda.
But I can see you're hurt, and I hope this little ramble was helpful
