I wanted to know if they generally in good practice do an autopsy for suicides? Is there a way to opt out of that if a note is left and it's clear it was suicide? I don't know why this bothers me but it feels violating to be all cut up and prodded. I do want to be cremated so this may be inevitable. Just so many questions.

Depends on what country, first of all.

Almost certainly, they will. US and other so-called 1st world countries. Most regions generally have the funding and if you're clearly a suicide (versus death by old age), then they'll want to document everything they find (and don't find).
Overly intrusive? Yes.

So there's no way to opt out of this I take it?

Well,...I cannot think of a way that's foolproof, private and doesn't bring up other issues.
I'm no expert on this....

You could probably try:
- writing up your wishes
- explain to a family member (to uphold your wishes)
- speak with legal counsel
- lose body through the method
- commit in the 3rd world

That is actually a valid question think about how much respect people had for dead body in the past before doctors existed, you died got a bureal and that´s it now they desecrate your body if you did the same thing to a dead body without a licens you´d be charged with desecration of a human corpse so why is it okay for the government to do it? (retorical question since government is above everything)

I was thinking MAYBE they'd give it a pass if one jumped from an extreme height to pavement, for instance...due to the insides being mulch...or drowning and bloated.

But, I doubt it.

They'd want to blood draw for drugs/alcohol 1st off & look for tumors, etc. to attempt a document for "reason of suicide."

Maybe I'm wrong. I'm honestly just guessing.
