potassium nitrite or nitrate

I've heard it's really easy to get this chemical on amazon but I can only see it for nitrate, and i'm pretty sure its only effective if its nitrite. Is nitrate what I need or do I need to find nitrite, which in that case where can I get that?

I ended up finding nitrite on amazon but the problem is that I know that amazon has a history of scamming people with these types of chemicals, and I don't wanna waste 50 bucks, is there any way besides testing it to know if it's truly PN?
