Have you thought of having a backup plan? I see you post a lot about getting N in Peru but it is always good to have a backup plan, such as SN.
Peru is not guaranteed these days, you have to make connections, maybe visit multiple towns, do a lot of searching, travelling, so if you go there, and you fail, you can feel better and more secure knowing you have a backup plan.
Don't put all your eggs into one basket.

You should be able to PM soon. Just tap on a user's name and you'll get a pop-up similar to this, unless the user has disabled chat/convo options:
