Places to talk besides Reddit?

I just got banned from Reddit for glorifying suicide (allegedly).

So where now? Where do you go to socialise online other than Reddit?

- Facebook is a fking cesspit of fake news and inflammatory posts.
- All forums I've found are virtually dead.
- Discord is annoying to use

I'm interested in topics like philosophy, shit posting, UK topics, programming

SaSu. Lots of interesting people, most care about not hurting you, and also have a self-hosted website. Pretty good! You can post most things on the off topic channel too!

I have to say SaSu is the least dead forum I've seen this side of the year 2000 and I'm liking it already!

Honestly, it's not the platform, it's the people in there, but I understand each platform has rules that increase leniency towards certain types of behavior. In that case, each Mastodon instance has its own rules, so it really depends.

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah also it seems to have a more of a followers and leaders model, I'd prefer something more topic oriented but it's looking more and more like a pipe dream

You mention programming so you may be interested in Hacker News or Lobste.rs which are both very active communities. I think the Something Awful forums are still active? It costs $10 to register though but that's where I'd start looking personally. I see some people recommending piefed.social. Never heard of it before. Good luck!
