I was originally planning to use SN, but I tested out doing partial hanging after a particularly depressing evening. Gotta say it's a pretty great method, and I've decided to do it instead.

I used my doorknob to hang from, and just put all my pressure down. I tried it twice, the first time only like 10-15 seconds, then the second time I really wanted to see how far I could push it. I was really close to passing out within like 25 seconds, I almost didn't get up in time since it was a different feeling than passing out in other ways I have before. It felt more like I was just blacking out. I could feel the blood supply being cut off from my head, it was quite an uncomfortable sensation but definitely manageable.

The noose hurt my neck. Also felt like my eyes were gonna pop out of my head. Certainly not the most peaceful method. But I have a pretty high pain tolerance, a barely existent survival instinct and kind of came a little close to accidentally offing myself there so I definitely think it's gonna work lol. I will try and find somewhere a bit higher up to hang when I go through with it, probably my closet support bar thing. It did leave a mark around my neck, so I guess I'm gonna be wearing turtlenecks until it goes away haha. I'll put an image below.

In a weird way, being 100% sure now of the way I'm gonna die and putting it to the test has me in a pretty good mood. I'm so happy it'll all be over soon and I know how it's gonna feel on the way out.

They can restrict SN and other methods all they want, but they can never get rid of classic ol hanging.

Been considering partial hanging, so thanks for sharing. May I ask what kind of ligature/rope you used?

of course. I used a necktie. might use paracord or something for the actual ctb, but the tie worked quite well for my test.

ive done partial from my closet bar with a fuzzy bathrobe belt, messily tied and everything but i also almost blacked out without even realizing it after ~20 seconds. it surprised me so i was startled but looking back on it, felt great. i had the head exploding sensation ofc but it was pretty foggy after a bit and i was also used to it after like 50 partial tests in the same way the year prior.

That's really convincing, thanks for sharing. I always been considering hanging, since it most accessible. Once again, I am convinced that it works. After each test it becomes less and less scary.

I honestly want to try it again a few more times before my intended date. It is definitely an interesting feeling. And it's probably nice to get used to that feeling before finally hanging yourself for good. I hope you can find peace if you decide to go through with it as well.

No problem. I think it's definitely a good method, even though it's a little painful it's all over with so quickly. I wish you good luck.

Are shoelaces suitable for this method? I have thought that it'll be more painful tbh

It's definitely possible, double or triple up on shoelaces and place some fabric over it. Just seems to add unnecessary complication to it and shoelaces can be pretty flimsy though. Paracord, necktie, bedsheet, or a scarf are a few that work a lot better.

yes definitely get used to it! it makes a huge difference in the comfort once you ctb fr, i remember the first times i could only do it for a few seconds and thought it was unbearable. it also helps you learn how to position the rope properly against your neck for max compression/minimal pain. wishing the most peaceful exit for both of us whenever we go

I really hate how regulated SN has become it's so frustrating. Most sources are sketchy or just scams now. Only leaves us with the more painful methods.
And thank you lol I've always loved Hooni

Is that original character or from some manga/anime? I saw a couple arts with him before.

Also I somehow got lucky with SN since it's completely unregulated in my country and you can go and buy it? Don't want to deal with storage and all that preparations though. i think hanging is simplier...

He's Hoon Lee from the korean web comic suicide boy. I haven't read it in a few years, but I liked it from what I remember.

All the regulation for SN is pretty new in the states, which bums me out a bit since I could've probably got some if I knew about it only a few months ago lol. I'm alright with hanging too though, it's a little painful but definitely doable and easy.

(i use translator) Is it normal to feel like your head is about to explode? I read in some guide that this shouldn't happen and that a person should lose consciousness within 15 seconds. Because of this, when I try partial suspension, after about 20-30 seconds I start to have doubts that I'm doing something wrong and I stop. So am I wrong, and is the feeling that my head is about to explode normal, or not?

I'm pretty sure it's normal, it's the feeling of the circulation being cut off to your head if I'm not mistaken. It can take up to 30-45 seconds to lose consciousness. My serious attempt will be on February 20th so if you want to check in after that, if there's no more posts from me then it works.

The sensation like your head is about to explode, or feeling a lot of internal pressure and discomfort, can happen because you are not applying enough weight.

The difficulty in partial hanging is finding the right position to exert enough pressure and compression to block the carotid arteries.

The correct positioning of the ligature and knot used is also important.

If the procedure is performed correctly (blocking the carotid arteries), it will guarantee that you lose consciousness quickly, in no more than 15 seconds; otherwise, it means that something is wrong and it is best not to continue and review the situation.

More info about...

Article:
Partial hanging deaths can happen in different body positions like standing, kneeling, sitting or lying down.

The degree of compression of vital structures of the neck varies with the weight transmitted to these through the noose.

Minor constricting forces compress only the veins of the neck, while the deeper, more muscular arteries continue transporting oxygenated blood to the brain.

This results in obstruction and severe congestion above the level of constriction.

This venous congestion eventually results in cerebral hypoxia and death due to the pooling of deoxygenated blood.

Generally, these deaths are easily diagnosable due to intense facial congestion, cyanosis, edema and presence of multiple subconjunctival petechiae seen in these cases.

Jugular obstruction, results in back pooling and stagnation of deoxygenated blood above the level of ligature. Venous pressure above the level of the constricting force gradually rises, resulting in rupture of smaller vessels like venules and capillaries. The hypoxic atmosphere also results in oozing out of intravascular fluids, and its sequelae include severe congestion, cyanosis and edema of the face and the upper neck with multiple petechiae. The congestion, cyanosis and edema generally fade or even disappear when the body is taken down from hanging position and the noose is loosened. Even then, visible petechial hemorrhages persist. Death occurs relatively slowly by this mechanism (jugular obstruction). Such a mechanism is common in incomplete suspensions where the compressive force is relatively less.

• Excerpt from the book: Forensic pathology of asphyxial deaths by Dr. Sudhir K. Gupta.

For this reason, if you are only compressing the jugular veins, it is best not to continue (it's not worth going through so much discomfort).
The carotid arteries are the target, which are located deeper in the neck. Like most forum users who opt for Partial, you'll need to be patient until you find the most appropriate position for you where you can exert enough pressure to achieve unconsciousness quickly.

It seems like it was mastered without any siphon effect or induced syncope. I will do that together with SN. Because if I pass out then SN won't matter if I fail I will have that SN to kick in.
I also work (for now) I am scared of doing it too much. If any spots stay everyone will be asking me what happened.

I'm too scared to test my rope out because I live with my family and they'll definitely notice the marks. Do you remember if, after using the fuzzy bathrobe belt, you were left with marks?

absolutely love this thread to bits , this is smthg i have been trying too. I was using a Resistance band, no knots no nothing into my door knob. just raw. i tried to lay on my stomach while putting it around my neck. I have a feeling it might work , but im not sure yet , the issue is from reading bout it in the net. our body even when unconscious will try to free itself. which implies that it would just cause brain damage. I guess a knot is necessary lol. but who knows might try it

I've also used a bathrobe belt, it didn't leave a mark for me. It was just a red line that went away after a few minutes and didnt bruise.

If my partial hanging attempt doesn't work, I'm probably gonna try full hanging for this reason so my body can't wriggle its way out of dying lol

Not OP obviously but I just had an attempt via partial hanging earlier this month and I had to be cut down and was apparently turning blue and even then I didn't have marks.
