For me, it would be : "no mercy, just pain" (phrase heard somewhere in a horror movie ...).

I agree that life is haphazard and has no mercy, only pain.

I don't know if that makes me inconsistent given my username?

It is because life is without mercy that we must become empathic and establish justice.

So, in my opinion, your username does not make you inconsistent, but lucid and responsible.

I had a friend in high school who said that a lot. She was unfazed by everything, always cut through the bullshit. Probably depressed as hell in retrospect but too stoic for anyone to know.
