Money is a measure of happiness.
That's why there is almost no chance that you will find a homeless person that will refuse lots of money if offered to them.
If you are rich, you can still be depressed. But who do you think is suffering more? The homeless person freezing in winter on the streets? Or the rich person in his private jet flying to the Caribbeans?
Which person would you want to be?
If money doesn't equal hapiness, then would you give away 95% your savings to help a stranger or a homeless person? Doubt most of the world would do it. Know why? Because at the end of the day, when you don't have that money anymore, you will realize that money could let you buy things that will make you happier or suffer less.
Money can't solve all the problems in the world. But it can certainly solve 98% of them.
Have an abusive family? If you have money, you can buy a house and move far away.
Have an abusive family? If you DON'T have money, you are forced to stay with the abusive family.
Lost your job? If you have money, you can relax knowing you can live comfortably without working for another 2 years.
Lost your job? If you DON'T have money, you are forced to find a minumum wage job. If you're unlucky and can't find one, have fun skipping a few meals or paying rent.
Want to retire? Easy if you have money. Heck you can even retire early.
If you DON'T have money. Have fun retiring when most pensions now-a-days don't give you enough to rent a room.
You would be working till you're 85.
Those are just a few things listed without even having to think.
Needless to say, there are few problems that money can't solve.
