I realise this forum, at least this side of it, isn't for recovery or steering people away from ctbing, but I was also wondering if anyone has been committed or been to a mental hospital, and could tell me what that's like, in case I am found out before I have a chance to ctb.

I went to one VOLUNTARILY*. It was a nightmare. If you are involuntarily admitted to a mental hospital—you can legally be deprived of your freedom. Even though my admission was 100% voluntary and I was a minor, they did not allow me to go home. You can and will be watched when you sleep. I was not even allowed my phone. Worst of all, you can't drink coffee.

And from it all, it will show up on your medical records when applying to jobs that require a security clearance (military, federal, etc.). If the right to privacy is especially pertinent to you, as well as spending most of your time behind a locked door, do not go.

It depends on the country you're from, but just like most people I would describe my experience as a hell.
