I have read somewhere that before you step off your stool/whatever if you hyperventilate then drop this will make you pass out much quicker. Has anyone heard of this as well?

Note:; it would be imperative to make sure the rope is positioned and will tighten sufficiently

I'm no expert, and I'm probably too big a wuss to hang myself, but I think there is a lot of technique involved. I have read that you can pass out very quickly from full suspension--so quickly that you don't even have time to change your mind if you want to. The trick is to cut off the circulation in your carotid artery. Blackout can be as short as 3-4 seconds I have read.

Yes, it is one method that is hard to come back from. i plan off hanging myself off a pull up bar so if I can in intense pain or it isn't working and I think the rope position isn't fatal I can hopefully pull myself up and try again. There is another member who talks about a quick drop to tighten the rope fast rather than slowly is more effective.

What kind of pull up bar are you going to use

What if that pull up bar doesn't fit on the hotel rooms door frame

It could work, you just need to hyperventilate for a long time at the standing position (1-2 minutes) to make your blood unable to transport sufficient oxygen. A good indicator for this is dizziness and loss of balance. In extreme cases you loose your consciousness before dropping.
