I'm rather green here so forgive if my question is dumb. Realizing how it's seemingly impossible to get Nembutal, I'm looking for the swiftest and least painful alternatives, but I'm hesitant about most of the other methods. However today I realized that the very yard of the downtown building I live could provide a seemingly perfect alternative.

It's a more than a century old, 4-story-hight courtyard building with open corridors. Because it's currently under renovation, there's a rather big (~20-25-meters-high) crane erected in the very middle of the yard.

Ever since I saw it first, the execution scene from the 1994 Frankenstein movie terrified me, but now I wonder under what circumstances can I stage something similar for myself using the crane? Would it cause an instant death? Would it decapitate me? What rope I should use? Any suggestion is welcome.

I asked about decapitation only because I'd like to avoid that, I've no intention to make it unnecessarily gruesome.

This is just a long-drop hanging but throwing someone off a building instead of using the traditional scaffold. Death is supposedly instantaneous as long-drop is meant to snap the neck. Yes, you can definitely decapitate yourself if you do not get the drop correct.

See @JesiBel 's post here for more on long drop, including a link to an informative article with the height calculations that YOU WILL NEED TO GET IT RIGHT (unless you do not care about your head popping off)

Would the decapitation hurt? Or is it more of a situation where you don't want to traumatize people

It is instantaneous and would require the brain to be detached from the rest of the body which is the equivalent to snapping the neck. It might hurt as you are tearing through all of the other tissue in the neck, but we really have no way of knowing as people who have been decapitated have never really shared that information.

Then it's better to consider Full Suspension Hanging instead of Drop Hanging, as their death mechanism isn't the same.

I always advise against Drop Hanging, because even trained professional military personnel have made serious errors in their technique and calculations. We are ordinary people. So it is better to avoid mistakes that will only cause us more suffering.

FSH is less violent and you can have more control over your actions. And make the procedure go well.

A crane is a sturdy anchor point. You can choose to tie the rope in a place where it suspends you far enough off the ground so you don't touch it.
You can bring a chair or something to reach that point. So you can avoid climbing and having to jump from the spot. Sudden movements could shift the knot's position, and we don't want this to happen.

Maybe it would be good for you to read this thread first:

📌 Thread 'Evelyn's complete guide on how to hang yourself with both partial and full suspension hanging'

The key points of FSH are:

- Make sure you are completely alone, that no one can interrupt you or save you.
- Test your rope and anchor point to ensure they can withstand your full weight. Tie the rope to the desired location and hang from it with your hands.
- The ligature goes under the jaw, where the carotid arteries are most accessible. We seek to stop the flow of oxygenated blood to the brain.
- The noose knot goes behind the neck in the center. This type of knot tightens itself when weight is applied, ideal for achieving the desired compression.
