Currently, I do not have the actual chemical itself, but I am wondering how it taste/feels and such. I would like to trial an item similar to, but not SN itself because test-ingesting it can lead to complications. And if not try, then I would like to use my other senses to observe something similar to it before I acquire it.

Is there anything that simulates it? To be clear, I am not asking how to make SN through other chemicals/materials.

Is salt in water similar enough to SN? What measurements should I use if so?

Hello.
I haven't tried SN myself, but I've heard it's very salty. You could compare it to sea water.
Just be prepared for very salty water. If you have a very low tolerance for this taste, it's a good idea to hold your nose while drinking and have some chewing gum or something similar ready. Alternatively, you could use mouthwash.

From what I've been reading throughout my time lurking here, there's a mixed reaction. SN is salty AF with a bitter chemically aftertaste.

I haven't tried it myself so take it as a grain of salt (LOL).

Make sure you drink a lot of water/coconut water after you try with kitchen salt, it can dehydrades you badly. Also wouldn't recommend if you have stomach problem, it will be painful to drink salt.

Can check the succesful and unsuccesful here:

whatever you do, do NOT actually "try" SN. there's been cases here where someone tries a miniscule amount of it out of curiosity and ends up hospitalized. make sure you check out as many of the resources and info on here about SN that u can!!!

Thank you so much! The seawater comparison makes so much sense.

Nice pun.

When testing with kitchen salt I planned to use water mixed with electrolyte powder to reduce dehydration.

Appreciate the threads too, will be sure to check those out.

To your first point, I absolutely won't.

As for your second, I'll be sure to research as much as I can here :)

If you're looking to conduct a dry run of the SN protocol without using SN itself, here is a little thing I put together for myself. I thought I'd share. A test run can help mentally and physically prepare, reduce anxiety, and ensure confidence without any risk. Below is a simulated protocol using safe, household alternatives that replicate the experience as closely as possible. I am going to do in the next few days in my lead up to passing.

1. Fasting (Optional in the test but a must on the day):
Begin with a 12–15 hour fast (or whatever you're doing), just as you would with the actual protocol. This gives you a realistic baseline for how your body might feel both physically and emotionally in a real attempt.

2. Antacid:
Take your chosen antacid as you would during the real protocol. If using a PPI, take it the night before and again the morning. This helps you understand its timing and effect on your stomach.

3. Antiemetic (AE):
Take the antiemetic you plan to use on the day. For example:
  • 10–20mg metoclopramide.
This will allow you to observe whether you experience side effects like dizziness, sedation, or tummy changes. Some people find metoclopramide stimulating or uncomfortable; it's worth knowing that ahead of time so you don't freak out.

4. Alternative SN solution:
Mix a small glass of warm saline water to mimic the appearance, taste, and volume of SN:
  • 50ml of warm water
  • 1.5–2 teaspoons of non-iodised salt
  • Optional: add a drop of iron supplement or a dash of bicarb for that slight metally taste.
It won't be exact, but it will be close enough to reproduce a similar taste, thickness, and saltiness of SN solution. Though, I've heard literally nothing can prepare you for how salty SN is haha.

Do not drink this entire mixture in one go if you're unsure how you'll tolerate it, sip cautiously. It's not the SN. The goal here is not to make yourself ill, only to familiarise yourself with the sensation.

5. Sedative / Painkiller (Optional in the test but once again good to see how you feel):
If you plan to take something like zopiclone, diazepam, or a painkiller as part of your protocol, you may test this too at a reduced dose to see how your cognition and mood are affected. Make sure to do this only in a safe space and if it's medically appropriate.

6. Simulate timing and environment:
Once you've taken the fake SN, go through the motions.
  • Set a timer for 15–20 minutes.
  • Lie down in the position you plan to use.
  • Observe your own emotions, physical sensations, and environment.
  • Take note of what felt rushed, uncomfortable, or uncertain.
7. Write down your thoughts:
  • Did I forget anything?
  • Did the environment feel right?
  • Was I calm, nervous, detached?
  • Did the physical sensations cause panic or nausea?
Then clean up. Wash your glass, dispose of the saltwater, and restore any medications. This part may seem minor, but it helps me with calming down. Good luck friends!

I just went through old post and came across this one. It needs non-iodised salt.

But I don't think it'a good idea because you can possibly get salt poisoning too.

its salty, tastes a little bit different from table salt (and i dont know in which way. cant describe it 😭😭😭). but not too different, really similar to table salt. you could drink salty water. be careful tho, it might dehydrate you
source: tried to drink 2 g of sn. ended up in an intensive care unit. so dont try actual sn, if you are not at peace with the fact that you might (and probably will) die

It seems very unwise to test it- although, people still do it seems. We still do occassionally get posts about people sampling it. I do understand the curiosity but I'd propose that death (to a suicidal person anyway) may not in fact be the worst outcome. I imagine it's perfectly possible to only maim yourself after an incorrect dose.

If the person then needs a hospital stay- I imagine that will also mean a psyche ward stay, police wanting to confiscate the substance plus- being on their radar generally.

There is a thread in the stickies advising members not to test it:

But yes- from reports I've read- very salty, chemical taste. Some have said it burned their throat I think but, not all.

wanted to clarify a bit, why i tested sn, although its not recommended. yeah, i know that you shouldnt test it. but i did

its because... its really hard to do something, that will 100% guarantee death. its easier to trick yourself and do something that isnt going to kill you. when death is only an option. like, you might die or you might not die. russian roulette, sort of. so i took the lower dose on purpose. but i didnt actually mind dying.

and it was pretty peaceful. same process that happens when you take 25 g, only it took much longer. and there also was no nausea at all, well, because 2 g dont really irritate the stomach. the symptoms of poisoning appeared about an hour and a half later, but i didnt really mind waiting. and when they appeared, there werent excruciating at all. and i didnt mind dying, i didnt call an ambulance myself (although i could, i had enough time for it)

but eventually my dad came home from work, saw me being a little bit blueish, hahaha, and called an ambulance. and they took me to the icu...

but after all it wasnt really a traumatic experience for me. for my family - yes, but not for me

sorry, that i wrote all of this in your thread 🙏🙏🙏 maybe my experience will seem informative to someone... i hope

SN isn't a "feel good" or "get high" drug. It really makes no sense to "try" some smaller amount of SN. You're not going to get an accurate assessment of what it's going to taste like, or what it's going to feel like, by taking a smaller amount in comparison to the full amount you'd take for ctb. It tastes what it tastes like, probably somewhat gross, and as far as what it might feel like, it provides a mechanism to death whereas the effects have been well documented - nausea, vomiting, tingling, numbness, breathing difficulty, etc. It should be taken for what it is intended and not relegated as some "play time" thing. Frankly, this mindset is akin to someone wanting to shoot themselves in the head, but deciding to "try" first with a .22 firearm, just to see what it would feel like, before going all in with their .44 magnum.

I did end up trying it; I personally didn't get salt poisoning but did feel somewhat uncomfortable, especially from the taste. To anyone reading this post, please ensure the amount of salt you use is controlled and please heed the possibility of salt poisoning as a warning against this idea, especially if your health is already jeopardized.

Thank you for your reply. What you went through must have been intense, wishing you the best!

Thank you for the warning. In my living conditions, it's beyond likely I would receive time in a psych ward and get reported for consuming actual SN. In my post, I was referring to trying SN by mimicking it with table salt; should have clarified better.

Don't apologize at all, your experience is incredibly valuable. If you don't mind, will you try to CTB again?

Ah, you make a great point. Of course, I wouldn't be trying the actual substance, my apologies for making it come across that way. I'm currently looking for mouthwash or some similar item to use while taking SN itself as advised by others here (in small quantity of course) to lessen my gag reflex, which is severe. I wanted to simulate its taste to determine what would work best!
