It's a common trope I hear, most people will say the worst thing that happened to them in their life is the loss of someone.

However for me, I find there are far worse things. Not trying to belittle losing someone (and maybe it's because I'm on the spectrum) but the fear of being homeless/going to prison was far more terrifying than any death of a relative.

If my parents died, it would be devastating not just because they die but rather because I'd be on the streets. That would be horrible. But if I got a place to live, got independent then it wouldn't be as bad.

The worst thing for me would be endless suffering whether it'd be me personally or someone close to me. I couldn't stand the thought of being trapped in a situation you can't escape from. Death can also be a release - besides being devastating at first.
