first and foremost u dont what the cop is going to do even if u dont harm him, he might taze you or do whatever and dont kill you. Their goal is to arrest you not kill (even if it looks like most cops kill on sight in US). I would consider it unreliable if u dont shoot at him or if u dont run up to him with a knife out and im guessing u dont want to do that.

The reason why its considered immoral is because u are still going to put a mental strain on the cop. There are more and less moral cops but u dont know who u are going to get and killing somebody is always going to put alot of strain on mental health wich might result in for example PTSD.

bad idea. Odds are you'd be wounded and sent to prison after being hospitalized. Is your life worse than that now? Find another way.

Yes it's immoral. Cops already have a high rate of suicide and PTSD. Never do this.

when i was younger i kept on thinking about how i could get a cop to shoot me and what i would need to get it to happen. i would definitely have to threaten him with something but i only have kitchen knives instead of a gun. you're more likely to get shot if you're pointing a gun, since there are a lot cases where cops kill people if they think they're going to get shot. but they could also have other cops with them that can restrain you and just restrain/taze you. the method's probably never going to work 100%, but there are rare cases that led to it being documented. i question cops most of the time think that a lot of them would resort to killing, though it would be easier for them to arrest you instead.

I do tend to think that any method that forces someone to kill us or have direct responsibility for our death is immoral. Of course, it's possible that they won't care and be able to put it behind them but, it could affect them deeply. Same goes for train drivers. I feel bad for people who are so desperate that, they can't think of anything else but, I think to directly involve another person has the potential to really screw up their life as well. The cop route actually seems worse than the train because- it's unlikely the train driver could even choose not to participate. With the cop, it's more their call. That's also a practical problem with it- they may choose to incapacitate or maim rather than kill outright.

Pigs aren't human, I don't care about injuring or traumatizing them.

But it's not a reliable method. As others have said, they're trained not to kill and to deescalate as much as possible before resorting to firearms. You'll likely get tased, tackled, injured. You risk being charged with assault or even attempted murder.

It is unreliable... and it is cruel to potentially force someone else to be responsible for your death. You don't know how they will react, and all that would be on you. It's one thing to take our own lives, it's quite another to trick someone else into taking it for you.

i think you have enough people telling you the same thing here darling. think through it a bit more logically. it's a gamble, morality or not. it just might not work. but you'll find something else, it'll be okay.

I'm going to make a big confession, and admit I considered this at one time. For various reasons it seemed appropriate, and indeed the only method available to me. I ultimately decided it was unethical. Victimization as my last act didn't sit well with me, but I was also desperate at the time. Coupled with the fact that they had thwarted several attempts.

So I'm commenting a big capital NO. DONT USE THIS METHOD on this one.

I can see why people think it is tempting but I think it is a mistake to involve other people in an activity like CTB. Regardless of what people might think of the police (especially in the US) you are putting another human being a risk. Not just physical harm, but also mental and emotional harm. And also, there is a really good chance that you will survive and may suffer some physical damage and most likely get into a great deal of legal trouble. Ultimately, I believe this should be one of those methods people should strongly advise against.

I would put aside the morality of it.

Just be realistic: they may shoot you multiple times, but they coukd also shoot once. They are trained to shoot in the center of mass so as to not miss and some people survive. Paramedics will arrive immediately likely, so your likelihood of surviving in an extremely disabled state isn't low.

And if you are extremely disabled (ie, you need full time care due to partial paralysis or worse) you will NEVER be able to die by suicide. They will force you to stay alive because the governemnt owns you and the government is controlled by religious types.

I don't know if there are statistics on how often people survive suicide by cop.

I think if you were charging towards them they'd be more likely to shoot more than once, but also they might shoot you once and the pain is so great you start screaming, drop to your knees, get arrested, and then get operated on while handcuffed to a gurney.

There are just other ways that involve less risk of staying alive in a disabled state in a country without having the choice to die.

Don't try this.
I know a cop that needed to shoot a guy.
While the guy was actively being bad, it still took a toll on him. Then you have the family bringing up a thousand ways he was negligent by not doing anything else. Many families accept their members bad behvior as OK. They will sue. More hell for the cop just defending himself.

They also have non-lethal options depending on the situation. That really pisses off the person hit. It really hurts!

In my opinion, suicide by cop IS NOT IMMORAL, but also IS NOT EFFECTIVE.

I don't know why anybody would want to involve anybody else in their own death. There are so many solitary methods, why choose the messy, public option? Unless you just wanted to troll the cops which I guess is fine.

It's almost as if people need access to peaceful, controlled methods and adequate treatments and social support systems that would protect against the level of desperation somebody must fall to before they find themselves carelessly traumatizing unwitting participants and bystanders.

It's not immoral as honestly I personally don't like cops. BUT alot of cops would know what you are doing, there's a very good chance they shoot you in the legs etc unless you're pointing a gun at them. But you'll likely get tased, or shot in the gut or something which you DONT want happening trust me here

Aside from the fact that the chances of suicide by cop actually working are slim to none, it also sits in a morally grey area. Most officers are trained to handle extreme situations, and there's a high chance it won't deeply affect them. But in the rare case that it does, I often wonder - why should the person dying care? It's a question I've thought about a lot, especially since I considered dying that way not too long ago. Why would someone care about what happens in this world after dying? That said, I do still care about the toll it might take on the officer - though I'm not exactly sure why. It's strange

Think about how you would feel if you were the cop being forced to participate in someone else's suicide.
