I've been dissociating and barely living since I've always painted suicide as my out when things get unbearable. Now I'm posing a hypothetical…what if suicide was not an option…

Ok, so how do I cope with depression from circumstances in my life? Circumstances that I've put myself in and can't change…

What are ways you cope with trauma and emotional pain that aren't self destructive? Do you believe everything happens for a reason? That the heartbreak and loss was meant to be?

Thinking about life without suicide as an escape is terrifying. I don't believe everything happens for a reason. I think sometimes things just happen... People hurt us, we hurt ourselves, life goes sideways in ways that feel unfair. I think coping without self-destruction is different for everyone. For me, sometimes it's distraction. Sometimes it's movement. Sometimes it's just letting myself feel without judgement, which is the hardest. I don't have a perfect answer. That's why I'm grateful for this forum.
