So long story short, I bought some followers for this throwaway account to lurk on people/ask for stuff on my cities ig page without my real identity attached, etc. so that it wouldn't look suspicious and fake, and out of curiosity I looked at the bots following list and they followed a ton of celebs (it was mostly kpop idols and Arab/Desi influencers) and it confirmed the suspicions i had for a while

Sometimes I look at really big influencer following lists and a lot of the accounts are suspiciously empty, like not just abandoned accounts but accounts where you can obviously tell it's a bot behind it and I had to search for what felt like hours to find an actual human in the list.

Anyways, maybe this should've been common sense already, and you have to do what you have to do to get famous in this industry, but don't let these influencers convince you that they got really lucky one day and got famous out of nowhere.
