Getting necessary equipment? Researching? Finding lonely places? What do you do to reduce your fear?

I cannot imagine this method would be for myself. I have accidentally swallowed water while swimming. I was coughing like hell, natural instinct.

I'd like to know this myself. Especially how to reduce fear. Drowning is one of the only methods accessible to me. But I don't know if I can overcome my SI to actually do it.

Horrible. She just decides and does it without much thought, but it's still horrible.

It's very hard

I don't have access to SN. My only methods are drowning and choking. I can also inhale some asphyxiant gas to make experience slightly bearable, but I understand, it's still horrible

The only way to prevent water from getting into lungs is choking by swallowing and blocking throat before drowning. There won't be a way back, no matter how strong SI becomes

Hyperventilation, a little gas inhaling, fast metabolism will all contribute to faster hypoxia and lesser suffering, but still, it will be horrible for 1-2 minutes
It's crazy for me that I am willing to endure years of suffering but can't endure 1-2 minutes of intense suffering to ctb

I'd get very drunk, pass out and then hopefully die. Alcohol can do wonders for me.

It's probably much more peaceful in ice water bc untrained people will lose consciousness quickly due to hypothermia and exhaustion. Still, it's a terrible way to go.

Was this a suicide or was it an accident?

Accident. I feel sorry for her kids seeing their mother go like this. Probably very traumatized.

Yes, indeed. It's such an horrible accident.

But other than that people should know about the risks and putting oneself into a danger for religious reasons is also questionable imo.

Yes. And also, I blame choking so much because it's weird method, but it's useful in that I don't need weights. Even if they find me, they can't just remove water from lungs - they will need to go to hospital, which will take at least 40 minutes.
And if I feel regret, it will be too late

I fail to see what makes it more "terrible" compared to any other way of dying from this video. I observe a child crying, everyone else around panicking, and no traces of the drowned woman after she submerged. All I can conclude from the presented recording is that death makes some people very unhappy, and nothing special about drowning as a particular cause of death.

It's worth noting that drowning is one of the most accessible and lethal CTB methods, so I have some guesses about where all this widespread anti-drowning propaganda comes from. If you can't restrict access to the means of CTB, the only viable suicide prevention tactics targeting a method is demonizing it in the eyes of those who might consider it. If many forum accounts systematically repeat that drowning is a horrible method, this is supposed to establish some negative associations in the minds of users having a lack of critical mindset. Likewise, the only purpose of the dramatic video with a crying child and panicking eyewitnesses is playing on people's feelings via exposure to shocking content.

This is true. I remember reading a study about near death experiences and drowning. Almost all people experienced nothing horrible. No "horrible" burning lungs, no torture, nothing. Just peace. It was shocking to read it, it forced me to see that drowning can be so peaceful. Unfortunately, even AI writes that drowning is horrible. If I find a link to that study or remember where I found it, I will share it

Update 1: I think I found it: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8928428/

UPDATE 2. Edited link. I finally found it

Here is some relevant information I extracted from that study:

A summary of the subjective comments of those experiencing drowning is presented in Table 1. In both groups, many individuals mention struggling to hold their breath on initial immersion (see previous section). All but two of the AG group (who may have been semi-conscious on submersion) found at least part of the experience 'painful', 'awful', a 'struggle' or 'shocking'. In all such cases, this was associated with the aspiration of water, irrespective of whether this water was fresh, chlorinated or salt water. A 'burning sensation' on aspirating water was specifically mentioned by eight of these individuals. Again, this sensation was not associated with any particular type of water. In contrast, only three individuals in the NAG mentioned their experience being painful; it is possible that these particular individuals aspirated water, but the evidence was not sufficient to place them in the AG. Nine of the NAG (60%) specifically mentioned not feeling any pain.

I finally inhaled (water). All the tension in my chest instantly cleared and it felt almost as if I were breathing in air. I was cold which was alarming considering the water was warm, but I didn't exactly care. My whole body had gone lax and I let my eyes slip shut. It felt just like falling asleep.

I've thought about this. Go to a surfing spot where the current is strong at night, drink heavily, go into the water. Not a pleasant death but it would probably work.

I was thinking about taking a ton of prescription sleeping pills with a lot of alcohol then jump in the river by me. Hoping the combination of pills and alcohol will make me unconscious enough to overcome SI. I'm just too chicken shit to try it as I'm scared of failing again. That's the only method I have besides trying to induce heat stroke in a hot car while also intoxicated. I don't have any other methods available to me.

The sea looks so cold though, I was at the beach today, some man killed himself in that sea years ago, I don't know how he had the guts to do it. I can think of easier ways. All the weird fish in there and the cold water.

Definitely make sure you have plenty of heavy stones or something else heavy to put in your pockets. After several failed attempts, Virginia Woolf finally realized that's what she needed so she could have success with that method.

Did you inhale water?

Yes. Frankly I have no idea how I survived - at one point I thought I was done for (ironically I was in quite a good place at the time and didn't actually want to die)

The coughing up of the inhaled water is awful. You go into full SI mode. Really scary
