I think there is only one specific scenario where suicide by cop is actually a viable method, but it’s not a scenario most people would end up in

I think it's only a somewhat viable method if you're a criminal that's done something really big that would get you a decade or likely longer in prison. And especially if the crime you committed would put you at the lowest rung of the hierarchy when you got into prison.

If you were cornered by the police with no escape. I think charging them with a knife or aiming a gun would be the better option in that scenario opposed to surrendering.

A decade in prison is already a very significant portion of your life taken from you and is more than enough time to scar you forever, there's also the risks of rape and violent assaults. It's also not easiest to kill yourself in jails and prisons from what I hear.
