Venting I just found out my roommate is a registered sex offender

I've been living with this guy for about three months now and I have noticed weird things that have definitely made me keep my distance from him, like how he would offer a hug (normal and nice, right?), but after i would try to pull away from the hug he would put his hands on my hips and keep me there, or that one time when I bent over to pet the cat and he slapped my ass without even saying anything.

I've had SO many bad and frightening experiences with men, from being followed home, to being sexually assaulted, and sexual coercion. Because of my experiences in the past I have tried to stay away from men whether they are family, friends, strangers, doctors, etc.

When I first got here I remember being really nervous about living with this man but he seemed nice, plus he shared his weed with me. So I was under the impression that this guy was nice and wouldn't hurt me.. Besides some of the weird actions and comments towards me. The other day he told me to go change into shorts (I was wearing pajama pants) because he said I had a great ass and he wanted to see it better, and I went with him to the store the other day and he made me hold his hand for a split second.

Anyways, after about three months of knowing/living with him, he sits me down and he finally tells me why he can't get a job and lives off unemployment, and that's because he's a registered sex offender. I was absolutely shocked and terrified. He didn't give me any details except for he has to re-register annually for the rest of his life, so I took it upon myself to look it up and see how bad it was myself because he didn't tell me.

SHE WAS SIX!!!!!! IM SO PISSED I HATE PEDOPHILES SHE WAS SIX SHE WAS A BABY and ever since i read the report a few days ago i can't stop thinking about that little girl. This was about 15 years ago, so she would be an adult now. I wonder about her every day and if she has healed and what she is doing

Now i constantly hide in my room with the door locked and try to keep the cat in here with me just in case… Cuz if you are capable of hurting a 6 year old then you are capable of hurting a kitty you monster

Fuck, that's terrible. As a victim of CSA myself who lived with my abuser, I know how horrifying it is to be in the same house as that kind of monster. Good on you for doing your best to protect yourself and your cat. Do you have anyone else you know who would be willing to let you stay with them for a bit? I think you should think about finding a new place asap, as that is truly not safe for you. Especially with the weird comments and actions he's doing. I fear it will probably only escalate from here.

I'm sorry you've been through CSA. i'm a victim of it too and it makes me sick knowing that more and more children will become victims to it. i plan to ctb before looking for somewhere else to stay tbh, i wish I could give you a hug i'm sorry you went through something that no child (let alone nobody) should ever have to go through

And a small advice a gentleman would not endorse or encourage your weakness or habits such as weed , but would rather take the time out to make you feel comfortable around him. Unfortunately, some people take this as a shortcoming. The world needs good and moral people but the number of douches is increasing by the minute.

This is pretty fukd up. You don't know if he actually did it or he was falsely accused and plead out on a deal, but I agree you should take no chances. If it's his house and he owns it, I'd say go back to living with family; are your parents alive and own a house? If so, take the cat and run to them.
