One of the main issues I have with life is the constant walking on eggshells. Whether it be parents, friends, or anyone else, it often feels like I have to be extra careful with what I say or do because if I don't, I would either be judged harshly or it can be used against me. A friend of mine, who I consider to be a brother to me, helped me realize this after talking to him. It often feels like I can't be myself at times. It feels like people are more willing to be a judge than a guide, and I'm never able to feel comfortable. It's stuff like this that makes me want to end it. People don't give any grace.

The worst part is, it isn't even eggshells because of things you would think... like I had a friend a long time ago who didn't curse that much, but when he did it ALWAYS seemed to be when children were around. It was uncanny, he would be fine all day, then would let out a string of cursing and of course that was when kids showed up and he got glares from parents. He needed a better filter and ability to read the room.

There are certain things that are just courteous to not drop on people, and that does change over time but a little awareness can go a long way. I think that's fine, to be kind and careful sometimes because of who you are talking to or who might overhear.

But increasingly in my life the most innocent innocuous thing can get you in the deep end. I'm not meaning to make fun of anyone, but the list of triggers seems to grow exponentially and regular people can't have normal conversations sometimes without worrying about some random thing being taken offense to by someone they never would have thought was an issue.

It has the effect of making you feel guilty for a thing you absolutely meant no harm in saying... and then the eggshells, where you have to second guess almost everything and you end up saying very little because it's just easier to not get in trouble.
