Have you ever run into the street without looking for cars because you dropped something and wanted to pick it up before the wind could blow it away?
That happened to me today, and I secretly wished a car had just run me over, because then I would have died, but unfortunately, fate wasn't on my side.

I think luck actually was on your side; there's a much better chance you'd just be extremely injured and likely in hospital. Unless the car was big and going fast enough, getting hit doesn't automatically equal death.

The drivers don't pay attention to the speed limit, so there was a good chance I would have died if a car had run me over.

Yeah, it's so ironic - the people who want to die, are usually the ones who live; while the people who want to live, are usually the ones who die.

In other words, we live in a world where "the hungry usually don't get fed".
