Sooo, winter is coming to the US soon ☃️.
I live in a region which gets an above-average amount of snowfall, and I was wondering if you could ctb by just…lying there? Like, if you just lean into the snow and wait? I've heard that freezing to death is painless after the initial chill and that symptoms of hypothermia include drowsiness and a false sense of warmth. Is this true / likely to work, or just plain dumb?

i also had the thought. enviormental factors like bears would help imrpove your odds of not being recovered, cold bodies are known to be recovered

You're smart for thinking of that. There are a lot of woods and wildlife (bears, coyotes, and the like) near me, so I think it'd probably be fine(?) I'm also planning on going to a remote location so that should delay my discovery time quite a bit.

It's 22 f where I am right now. According to chat gpt exposure more than 3 hours is potentially fatal. I did specify limited clothing. But I can't even imagine. Even with some normal clothes on, it's pretty brutal. It does seem to pass out at some point. What a way to go
