I'm going to EMDR to help with my ptsd caused by childhood abuse. I also have ocd which is connected to the ptsd.

I need an idea of how many months of this before I'm fully functional.

I've been looking into this as well. I don't know for sure, but I've read it's usually 5-15 weekly sessions. It depends on the severity of your trauma.

A friend of mine had it done twice, a few years apart. She did 12 the first, and she had 6 the second. She said it helped a lot, just needed a touch-up, basically.

One of the studies I've seen measured its impact As weekly sessions over either 3 or 6 months. It can take a long time to start working.

I did it myself for probably 4-5 months. Great results.
