Just curious since in the upcoming weeks I will be going to a psychiatrist for my own set of diagnoses.

Btw please be truthful, as this isn't a competition of who is the "most damaged" or with the largest amount of mental illness "Pokémon's" :)

If you are comfortable you of course can also share some details with a reply too, since everyone deserves to have their voice heard.

Around 9-10 being presented most obviously, but multiple alters meet diagnostic criteras that I/most fronting alters do not, so that's why I put 10+ 😅

Like 4? Depression, anxiety, BPD and another i don't wanna mention. Add autism too if that counts as a mental disorder (don't think it does and is instead a mental disability or developmental disorder). I have had an eating disorder too in my lifetime but have recovered from that.

14, and 15 if you count being a recovered anorexic a mental disorder. Sometimes it feels impossible to have this many, but it sure somehow is :,) plus I have POTS. So I suffer from brain fog in addition to all the other mental bullshit working against me. Yay my brain is so healthy and normal ahhahaha

Oh jeez, 15? Really? Man… I cant even imagine how tough that must be for you. Talk about winning the lottery… I hope you can at least get some joy in between all this hell.

Also if it's okay to ask, how does one even get so many diagnoses? Not to get too specific or mean anything offensive by this… but like… did the mental health professional just start listing all the disorders and being like "yep, you have this, and this, and that too, ohh obviously this too" lmao

Well as the nature of trauma goes, one thing leads to another. My dad was a horribly abusive person, more of a monster than a man, and I think some of that abuse can be attributed to the untreated disorders he had (autism, ADHD, auditory processing disorder, dyscalculia, dyslexia too but I have that it's a mild case). So he genetically passed those down to me. And the trauma he caused me from abuse broke my brain, leading to most of the others (PNES, MDD, C-PTSD, BPD, DID, AVPD). There are also some I just picked up along the way, like gender dysphoria because I'm trans, body dysmorphia which is common in people with BPD (and ofc led to the anorexia), and for some reason tourette's, although I think that one was onset by taking stimulants for ADHD when I was 17. Even POTS is caused by trauma. Damage to the nervous system, illness, enduring abuse, accidents, all of those can cause it. And boy have I had most of those. It really is miserable. Even with all of the coping mechanisms I have, I don't think there will ever be enough time and treatment for me to be able to live a comfortable life with everything I deal with.

Oh I just realized I forgot to say, but a lot of them have been diagnosed over time and by different providers. So I didn't have just one or two assessments and immediately get it all dumped on me. It's been a long, painful process of reckoning with all of them. And there still are some that are technically undiagnosed, although my providers agree I have them, such as autism and DID. The only reason they aren't officially diagnosed is because it could affect my ability to access my HRT and gender-affirming care :( sucks, but I'd rather have that than a little diagnosis in my chart saying I have a thing I already know I have.

My DID is also undiagnosed (just recognized by a specialist) to avoid issues with HRT access! Reading your message was almost like reading a slighty different version of my own life 🫂

Officially, just 1. ADHD.
Not even diagnosed with depression anymore. I was as a teen though.
Something is wrong with me but no docs have put their finger on it. One wanted to diagnose me with bipolor because of how much I fluctuate from depression to being completely fine but didn't since I do not have mania.

Autism
Anxiety
Depression
(C)PTSD

They also diagnosed me with BPD but I'm dubious. That diagnosis is given out so liberally that clinicians need to write a freaking thesis on why it is warranted. Autism is at the top of the hierarchy for me personally and should take precedence when it comes to explaining things about me. But they didn't really understand that either.
