Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Try a warm line maybe? They often have time limits but they listen.

I used to work a warm line and also saw the inside workings of the crisis line - it's all scripted and very limited. To me it's a total joke because I've seen enough to know it is. Warm lines are better but you can't be direct about being suicidal cuz that's out of their wheelhouse a bit. But I've had suicidal ppl call and talked them out of it successfully so 🤷‍♀️

"Thank you for calling the suicide crisis hotline, your call is important to us." After an hour you get someone who isn't even trained to help, they just regurgitate their script. In my experience, when suicide was mentioned they sent a cop and an ambulance to my house. I was hauled off to the ER in handcuffs. This was 18 years ago, but the memory of being handcuffed and shoved into a police car was so humiliating I've never trusted 988 or similar since then.

Sorry this happened to you. I haven't had great experiences with the hotlines either recently. Got cut off at 7 mins once because the person on the line didn't know what to say and there were other callers. Was extremely angry and still very much wanted to ctb
