If a person becomes homeless but they have a car, where do they park during the day and night? What do they do during the day? At night, they sleep, I know. It seems like parking would be hard to find especially in places where it snows a lot.

during the day its easier working, or somewhere like the gym cleaning off or somewhere with like free wifi like macdonalds to look for work/housing/etc
night? pretty much anywhere you can find thats safe. i've thought somewhere is safe and suddenly i have randoms beaming me awake at 3AM asking if im homeless
when i got housing service by the gov temp to put me in a hotel fuck that was goldddd
I know nothing about this but I have heard some "van life" people use apps that tell you where you can park overnight legally. I do not know how accurate they are, but I know they exist.

Hi, are you worried about becoming homeless with a car or is this currently your situation? I've gone through it. Midwest. December. Ice cold nights trying to sleep with just a squishmallow blanket and a jacket. It's difficult. I was lucky that no one seemed to really care that I was sleeping in my car. I was in a place though where you have to register for parking on the street and it costs money which as you can imagine at the time I didn't really have much of so I would move my car every so often. BTW, batteries die in the cold. Especially if you don't use the car a lot so I would recommend just turning it on for a bit so that doesn't happen. Also if possible get those window shade things. I know its stupid but the comfort of knowing someone cant see inside your car might help a bit. Parking garages are possible too at least you could have a spot for a bit longer than if you park on the street. (Idk where you are. Suburbs vs city would make a difference.) but again thats money which if homeless probably not much of. I've found in this day and age not many places let you sit around without buying something and libraries have limited hours so if this isn't your life already I'd look into options on where you could just chill out for the day. Some coffee shops I found were better than others. Local vs something like a starbucks. By the time I was going through this most of the time it didn't snow but if possible (again lots of money that might not be possible) get a tarp so your car isn't covered in snow.
Also, some will probably why not just go to a shelter if you're homeless? I did try that, for a minute, I think if I had stayed I would've been dead a bit sooner. They only let you have so many personal belongings, if you have a car its up to you to figure out what to do with it, curfew, etc. Idk. Maybe its better than sleeping in your car but it wasn't for me. I got by through the kindness of others. A couple online people I barely knew got me airbnbs for a few nights. It for sure helped.
