I bought a firearm for the express purpose of CTB and have been unable to pull the trigger. I don't know why for certain, but part of me is afraid of screwing up and ending up worse off than I already am. Also, the thought of sending a projectile into my head is becoming increasingly difficult to envision. My next best option is hanging. I live alone and I have a garage so there is no risk of being found. Does anyone know anyone who was unable to shoot themselves, but succeeded with another method? I'm an emetophobe so anything that has to be ingested is off the table.

Funny, i have the opposite situation that i tried hanging and was shocked by the terror of the survival instinct once i had the rope around my neck, with the fear of it going wrong somehow, so i wished i could have a gun instead. It would be surprised if anyone found hanging easier than a gun when it really comes down to the reality of it. I suppose it could be a personal thing, and i cant imagine the feeling unless i actually had a gun and tried to do it.
I feel like with a gun, either you have pulled the trigger and it's over, or you havent pulled the trigger and youre still unharmed. I think the survival chance should be essentially 0 if you do it in an isolated location where you cant be 'found' immediately and taken to hospital. With hanging and poisons there's this problematic short time period where the method is "in progress" that terrifies me. Even if it only takes 10 seconds to lose consciousness with the rope, i dont know what the survival instinct could make me do or experience, and there's a lot of variables with the rope and how it's tied, etc
