Have you ever had a mental breakdown but you didnt knew and realized way after it was a breakdown?

I suffered a psychotic episode and I didnt realise it at the time.

I was paranoid, was having auditory hallucinations and thought someone was out to kill me. I had an american womens voice in my head telling me to do things, and one of the things she suggested that I was going to ctb by hanging myself. Spent a couple of weeks in a psych ward where I was prescribed antipsychotics which I still take to this day. They discharged me from hospital way to soon I was still unwell when I left.

I don't believe I have but my neighbour said he experienced one. He was asking people to look after his possessions so he could go and live in a (more naturally wild) park. Not that that's necessarily crazy. Back to nature and all that. But, he said his behaviours were pretty out of character.

He described it as 'seeing the light' though- he was so sure he was entirely lucid at the time. Almost more so than normally. Like he felt such clarity. Interesting but, kind of scary really. That we could be so off kilter but actually be feeling so certain we were finally being our genuine selves.

Oh yeah, I went through meds withdrawal. Legitimately thought my bank was stealing my money and that I was gonna get fired for a joke A COLLEAGUE made AT me. When I told him that, he laughed and gave me a hug. And I realised I was going crazy.
