I used to believe in a benevolent God who loves you and makes good things happen in your life just because you asked. But I think God is actually evil. I've been tossed around like a lifeless doll for the past year. I've just have had my life turn upside down in April 2024 and then again in October and now I'm just planning my death and looking for how I can end this suffering. God creates suicidal people. And is a sadist.

I'm an atheist and I told someone not too long ago that if there is a God, he's kind of a dick.

Honestly, though... I could believe in a "creator" in the sense of this... Imagine striking a match and in that microcosm of a big-bang you essentially create a tiny infinite universe that exists until the match burns out. Time is different from their perspective, what takes seconds for you is an eternity for them. Civilizations live and die and that tiny universe dies in the blink (or two) of an eye and you never knew it existed or that you created it. I could believe that... in which case, there's no way to ever communicate with that God and no way for him to intervene in anything for or against you.

I don't really believe in God, but if there was one then I can't help but feel as though we shouldn't immediately hold them to human standards of morality, similar to how in biology they teach you not project your morals, feelings, and values onto other animals.

I don't believe in a personal caring about each of us. Things just happen randomly, good and bad. I believe in a universal energy we are always part of even when we die.

As I said in another thread. If there is a god, it has seen what we've become and has abandoned us, because we're living garbage as a species.

This ties into something I've thought since I was a kid... In the early days of mankind we just buried people in the ground, even the earliest caskets were just boxes that degraded eventually. At some point, we went to cremation or hermetically sealing our remains in caskets that permanently keep us from going back into the earth.

So, I wonder sometimes how much of us taking ourselves permanently out of the ecosystem does it take before we have done real damage to our ecosystem? Seems like it has to be a problem at some point, no?

Even when not depressed, I've always thought I wish I could just be buried in the ground as-is... deep enough to keep the living safe from decomposition, but undestroyed and free to recombine with the earth in the end.

"Green burials" as they are called are becoming for popular. Which is what you are referring to in regards to returning to the earth. Not all cemeteries allow it but there is one in my US state that does and that is where I want to be buried.

its easy to believe in such things when your life feels good but there is no god, its just a means to control and exploit people. history clearly shows lots of the priests in power didnt believe in anything themselves

one problem here is that part of the things are not to people for blame but the nature (diesases, natural disasters) and if god made the nature it is his fault
