Funny talk about something I heard most people say regarding aliens/alien invasions.

"Most nations would try to bribe the aliens!!! Those damn "X's" " <--- Example of double internalized xenophobia.

And the aliens would accept the bribe because...? What are we bribing them with? Why would they take it? Why are you treating aliens like they are evil humans deluxe™?

"Because I saw what humans did as colonizers and an alien race doing the same to us scares me badly, tee-hee!"

THEN BE BETTER THAN THE OTHER HUMANS? Even if that's true , if in the end aliens truly come to earth, they actually exist and they want to colonize us, if there is only one ending to humanity (besides the secret one we get for blowing ourselves up before the aliens arrive) wouldn't you rather die knowing that we all came to peace with it all? That we all love eachother? Are content with one another? No? of course you don't, well then no matter what aliens will win against us , you can't persuade them, they are technologically superior and THERE IS NOTHING you can do about it, NOTHING , you can cope about it and say that we'd win, cope harder I guess, suck it losers , (hypothetical) aliens rule, you drool.

Oh I forgot about the "Humans will unite together and band against the aliens!" Why should the human race ever unite against aliens, what did they ever do to us even, exist? OH YEAH STUPID ALIENS, HUMANITY NO.1 GO GO GO GO UNIFICATION, shut up , why do you need a them all the time. This is not a joke, I am serious about this one. Imagine the first person to be a mail man getting jumped by a family of 5 because the man in blue with a leather purse that brings letters of doom. Now reading what I wrote again if you count the fact that most people have bills and mortgage to pay, is the description of the mailman really THAT far off from reality? probably not.

I've heard other, nicer theories that aliens are likely to be peace loving. Brian Cox explained that- to create rockets powerful enough to leave their planets and traverse the galaxy in search of us, they will have gone through the equivalent of our industrial and technological/ radioactive revolutions. So- if they've managed to discover and harness a fuel that potent without using it to annhialate themselves (as we are seemingly always on the brink of,) perhaps they won't be so blood thirsty.

Most of the sci- fi plots seem to revolve around them plundering the earth for resources. Maybe enslaving us. Again, I would have thought a civilisation with such technology could find resources closer to home. As for a deep fascination or hatred of the human race. I don't know really. Again, if they find us first, they will be the more advanced race. Maybe they would be fascinated. We're fascinated about them- after all. I think it's more that we're not used to being the less dominant species around. We feel threatened by the prospect.

As for the people of earth banding together to fight off the 'evil' aliens. I actually could see that happening. Massive disasters/ threats do seem to have the effect of uniting sometimes. Not all though of course. Some will use the situation for personal gain. Even if that means screwing over their fellow humans.
