What is the best knot to use? I've heard a variety of answers from slip knot to noose knot to bowline knot. Which is the most effective though?

On the same vein, and apologies for my dumbass, but what knot should be used to attach it to the anchor?

I know it needs to be compressing the carotid arteries, but where should I be placing the noose to achieve this: below or above my Adam's Apple?

Thank you in advance for assisting in my lack of competence

I know little about hanging, probably slip knot is less recommended.
As for noose knot and bowline knot, please see this thread.

Slip knot can be untightened, so it's good for testing, but if you want to ctb, it's best to go for noose knot.
Depending on the anchor, the knot to keep the rope connected to the anchor can change it. specifically, you do not need a knot if the anchor is a tree, just wrap it four or more times. however, all other anchors should be tied with an anchor hitch knot.

The confusion comes from the fact that people (incorrectly) call any self-tightening noose a Slip Knot or slipknot. This is confusing and incorrect. For example, the third link in your comment (101knots.com) shows a Poacher's Knot, and not a slipknot or Slip Knot.

Asking whether the Slip Knot or the Noose Knot is better for forming a noose is like asking whether a spoon or a knife is better for cutting bread. They are different tools. I'm not being sarcastic, just trying to illustrate that this is an issue with the terminology and not a question of which one is better. One is suitable for the task, the other isn't.

I don't exactly know where this confusion originates from, but The Ashley Book of Knots – which many consider to be the bible of knots – is also very clear about this (see picture below).

If you want to avoid confusion, look up these knots on Knotspedia or Animated Knots. Both have the terminology right:

For the anchor point, you can use a Bowline or an Anchor Hitch, for example. Add a stopper knot at the free end of these too for extra security. Or you can simply use a Noose Knot + stopper knot combination (also called an Arbor Knot) to tie the rope to the anchor point as well.

Positioning the noose above the Adam's apple, below the jawline, is probably the best. The rope will likely slide up anyway under tension, and it won't press on your windpipe if you position it higher, which can be painful.

Any specific stopper knot? Again sorry for being dumb lol

You can simply use an Overhand Knot. It's simple and can easily be tied close to the main knot. (Tying it close not only makes the knot more secure but also helps reduce any initial slippage when you put weight on the rope.)

You can also use a Double Overhand Knot. It's a slightly bigger knot. Normally it shouldn't be necessary, but if you want a thicker knot, it's a good option.

I wouldn't bother with more complex stopper knots, but there are some if you search for them. There's also the Figure-8 Stopper, but I don't like that either, because when I test it, it tends to slip too much before it fully tightens and locks in.

This'll probably be my final question.
Does anyone have any good sources to buy rope from?
Would something like this be ok?
Or something like this?
