Remember-Me-Not

I think I'm going to be okay.

I got a 60k hospital bill, and I thought insurance could cover for it, but it didn't because it's out-of-network.

I submitted a financial aid application for the hospital yesterday and today I got an email saying I have a financial aid letter in my portal.

I'm worried they rejected me. I'll be devastated. I feel like life has been a series of crappy things happening and I wonder if I'll ever be okay mentally.

It's been a struggle, but I still try my best everyday.

Immediate update:
Fuck I got denied :/

60k hospital bill?! Fuck. What are the doctors and their methods made of? Gold and diamonds?

I'm really sorry for you. I suggest trying to complain, make sob stories, threaten to tell media (in my country a lot of really popular newspapers and newssites would happily publish your story), tell the media, threaten to tell all your friends and people you know to not get that insurance, make several 1 start reviews. Raise a real hell and make them feel that they will lose all their customers and go bankrupt if they pay you. Just keep calling there every day several times a day. I've heard of people getting paid after complaining every day or telling the media.

*hugs* I'm sorry. It's really hard. I hope you can find a way to get paid.

Would filing bankrupcty be a good option?

Is it okay if I ask what the hospital visit/stay was for?

See if you can contact them to dispute the amount, they might have made a mistake or they might be able to slash it somehow. Do you have lots of savings/assets? If not, debt, even high amounts of it, isn't necessarily a concern even if they sue for it. If it's a blood out of a stone situation, you're not going to have too much to worry about. But of course it's a different story if you have a paid off house and 50k in the bank.
