I'm pretty sure stoicism in general is permissive of suicide if not outright encouraging it... Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius, to name just a few, have argued that we have an irrational preference for remaining alive, when death is inevitable, perfectly natural, and the length or shortness of our lives is irrelevant.

The stoic mindset does help honestly but I agree that you can't "be a man" in every situation, my visual impairment is brutal and I can barely see my mom's face.

I've had to deal with that reality since September 18th being off my special drop.

How can you work with that?

Yeah, I was more making fun of the "normie" response than dissing stoicism as whole. All the men know better you can keep it together better you will be, and what you feed in yourself you will become.

But if you tell someone suicidal or even depressed to "be a man" you might as well say to them achieve enlightenment. Because that is basically what it amounts to.

I think there are however some rare people who have it in them to conquer their issues with it and all the glory to them, and blessings to those who attempt.
